Let's say you just started KETO.
You're wondering why maybe after the first initial loss of water weight, why aren't you continuing to lose? Or maybe you consider yourself a veteran at this whole KETO thing, you feel like you know what you're doing, but for some reason you've been stalling...
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?
Whether you are a novice or feeling fairly confident in your KETO knowledge, it would be beneficial for you to check out this video, detailing my TOP 5 KETO MISTAKES you may be making that are preventing you from achieving maximum results.
I will outline the mistakes here for those who don't have time to watch, but just know the detailed explanations can be found in the video!
1. TOO MANY "KETO" PRODUCTS/ NOT READING THE INGREDIENT LISTS!
If you just replace all your old carb and sugar-laden products with KETO frankenfoods, then you aren't really training your brain and taste buds to live without them, which is really the goal. Also a lot of products on the market advertise themselves as "keto" or low-carb when really the ingredients they are using are not keto friendly at all!
2. YOU'RE NOT BEING PATIENT.
Sure, Keto is a method of getting fit and losing weight that can tend to work faster than most traditional diet methods, like calorie deficit alone, etc. But after that initial water weight loss, keto weight loss can slow a little bit. It is important to stay the course. Remember you are doing this not only for the fitness and weight loss benefits, but also for the general health benefits a keto weight loss provides!
3. YOU'RE NOT REPLENISHING YOUR ELECTROLYTES!
This is crucial! Your best chance of avoided the dreaded "keto flu" and leg cramps is making sure you are replenishing sodium, magnesium, and potassium! A simple supplementation in vitamin form will do the trick!
4. YOU'RE EATING TOO MUCH PROTEIN.
When doing keto, your ratios should be roughly: 75% of your calories coming from fat, 20% of your calories coming from protein, and 5% from carbohydrates. Does it sound like maybe you may be eating too much protein? You wouldn't be alone in making this mistake. ;)
5. YOU AREN'T TRACKING YOUR MACROS.
Honestly, this is super important. If you aren't tracking the foods you eat, at least in the first 6-12 weeks, how are you going to know that your calorie ratios are actually keto?!
I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU FINE TUNE YOUR KETO JOURNEY FOR OPTIMUM SUCCESS!
